Legislative activities in Germany have again been at a high level, in part due to the need to implement European directives, in part following political decisions to address certain perceived weaknesses of the existing law, in particular as regards copyright contract law and limitations of rights, not least responding to users’ calls for clearer and extended rules specifically as regards digital uses. One will have to see whether and to what extent the amendments will meet the expectations and have found the right balance.
