This article discusses the rules of private international law applicable in Belgium in relation to cross-border disputes involving authors’ rights. Indeed, the circulation of works in ever-increasing numbers raises private international law issues with growing frequency: typically the international jurisdiction of the court hearing the case, the determination and scope of the applicable law and the enforcement and recognition of foreign judgments. Special attention is devoted to the provisions of the new Code of Private International Law recently enacted in Belgium.
