As years go by, copyright protection in Africa is becoming more and more effective. This is evidenced by the news from the period between 1 January 2019 and 31 March 2022. At the regional level, there are two major events, namely the adoption of the model law on copyright and related rights in the one hand and, in the other hand, the adoption of the Protocol on the voluntary registration of authors' rights. As for national news, it is essentially marked by the updating of certain texts of the OAPI States to take into account the evolution of international standards (in particular the Marrakech Treaty). There is also a wealth of judicial news in both the OAPI and ARIPO areas. Among several decisions of interest, there are several judgments relating to questions as various as: notion of originality, exceptions to copyright, moral rights, breach of publishing contracts, legal status of foreigners, collective management, normative scope of Annex VII of the Bangui Agreement or liability of hosting service providers.
